Orange Sky

Orange Sky is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homelessness – founded in 2014 the organisation was created in a Brisbane garage by two mates, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett. Orange Sky launched in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on World Homeless Day in 2018, and has since grown to five regions across Aotearoa.

Orange Sky’s positive impact isn’t solely because of their laundry and shower services. It happens through building a community by creating a safe, positive and supporting environment for people who are too often ignored or feel disconnected. Their volunteers aren’t experts on homelessness or social workers. They are simply a great bunch of people who are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists, who each week bring people together through genuine, non-judgemental conversation and access to these essential services.
