Do you need a flat sheet as well as a fitted sheet?

This one's always up for debate! Whilst most Australian bed sheets come as sets with both, let's break down what each does.

Your fitted sheet, with its elasticated edges, hugs your mattress perfectly. Getting the right size is crucial - a king-sized bed needs a king-sized sheet to ensure those elastic edges do their job properly. A flat sheet (or top sheet) is that lovely layer between you and your quilt. It's brilliant for summer nights when you don't need much coverage, and it helps keep your quilt cover cleaner for longer.
